SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Detroit Tigers t-shirts and other memorabilia?are selling out fast as the team gets ready for the World Series, but there?s not much out there for the family pooch.
As WWJ?s Kathryn Larson found out, one Shelby Township groomer?had an idea that?s turned into a home-run hit. At Kuts??N Kisses, pampered pets are getting ready for the World Series with temporary tattoos.
?The Tigers across their back in navy blue or orange. It?s nontoxic, made for dogs and completely safe. It?s airbrushed and it comes out with a bath,? said pet salon co-owner Rene?McGee.
?With the Detroit ?D? it?s a little intricate, with the pattern in the middle, and so the parts of the stencil are kind of small and not real firm, I guess would be the word. And when the dog moves around, it takes two of us to kind of hold the dog and calm him down while we do it but we get it done.?
McGee said she got the idea back in the spring at a dog convention expo in Chicago. She said airbrushing is the latest trend in the dog spoiling world.
?It?s a fun thing for the dogs. The airbrushing, we do sports teams, we do holidays, you can do your dog?s name, a lot of fun things,? said McGee.
McGee said she?s done about a dozen Tigers tattoos in the last few days and charges $15 for the service, $10 if your pooch gets a grooming. She said it?s?the perfect way to show your love of the home team.
?Everybody is doing the Detroit Tigers, showing their loyalty and wearing the gear and you can do it with your dog too,? she said.
