Political wack pack: The oddest candidates of 2012

In a bid to reach more voters, the Libertarian Party's candidate for a Kansas congressional district changed his name over the summer?to Thomas Jefferson.

"Whether you think it's crazy or not, hopefully it gets people thinking about the founding fathers and Thomas Jefferson in particular and whether we have that form of government still," Jack Talbert, now legally Jefferson, told the Topeka Capital-Journal.

"Whether you think it's crazy or not, hopefully it gets people thinking about the founding fathers and Thomas Jefferson in particular and whether we have that form of government still," Jack Talbert, now legally Jefferson, told the Topeka Capital-Journal.

His goal, according to the Libertarian Party of Kansas website, is to "launch the Thomas Jefferson Project ... an effort to end gridlock due to party differences by introducing the concept of voting for the person, not the party."
