The Charlottesville community is rallying to help a child suffering from brain cancer.

Sophie Vincent was only two years old when her family found out she was diagnosed with a stage-four brain tumor. Tuesday the community has come together to support her family in this fight.

A hundred children and their families gathered at the Charlottesville Bounce-N-Play to help raise money for Sophie's surgery coming up on Friday.

"We will have a lot of therapy and medical expenses ahead of us after that," said Jenna Vincent, Sophie's mother.

But she is hopeful that the surgery will help Sophie regain some of the functions she has lost.

"She can't really use the right side of her body right now and has some vision problems," said Jenna. "Once the tumor is no longer pressing on that spot, we will get a better Sophie!"

Jenna says having the love and support of her friends who have organized this fundraiser has helped immensely.

"They have put in hours and hours of work," said Jenna. "They are amazing friends and I am really grateful."

"We all have two year olds and we all wanted to join together to see what we could do to help them out," said Jenny Moore, one of the organizers of the event.

Moore says her goal has been to raise $10,000 for Sophie.

"It has just been such a beautiful example of people coming together to support a family who needs not only financial support but prayer support," said Moore. "Knowing there are people out there who care and would do just about anything for them."

The family has even been receiving donations from people all over the country that range anywhere from $20 to $1,000.

"It is just awesome to see people we don't even know here who want Sophie to get better and want to help our family," said Jenna. "We are very happy."

Organizers of the event say one of the most worthwhile moments of this entire fundraiser was seeing Sophie's face. Even though she was getting ready for surgery, they were excited she was able to make an appearance at the event.
