Gov. Bobby Jindal's former communications director has headed to Florida to work for Gov. Rick Scott. Melissa Sellers will start working as Scott's communications director Monday. She replaces Brian Burgess, who is headed to the Republican Party of Florida to manage media relations and communications.
Sellers started working for Jindal during his 2007 campaign and served as his communications director during his first term in office.
She left the administration in December to attend seminary in Dallas. It wasn't long before Sellers was back in the political arena, however. During the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., she served as regional media director.
"Melissa will bring experience and valued insight to our mission and we are excited to have her join our team," Scott said in a statement.
